WHOLE30 WEEK 2: ATHLEISURE & GYM OUTFIT

Hi guys! This is SUCH an exciting part of Whole30 because we are basically to the halfway point! I am coming to you today with a cute athleisure & gym outfit inspiration. I decided to do this after week 2 because this is a great time to start getting active if you haven’t already. The first couple weeks of Whole30 can be really difficult and time consuming for someone who is new to the program. If you’re not already a gym rat, the halfway point is a great time to start hitting the gym or at least getting a little bit more active when possible. Maria and I are starting kickboxing on Monday at ilovekickboxing and I’m SO excited! She has done it before, but I never have so I’m eager to learn. We are partnering with them for the next 7 months so we will be giving you guys all the details along with our progress! SO STAY TUNED!

At this point in your Whole30 journey, you should be more comfortable with your food prep and label reading. You should also feel a little less overwhelmed by all the cooking and prep work that goes into eating healthy. For most people who are new to a healthy lifestyle, it is unrealistic to expect yourself to change your entire way of eating and also go to the gym every day! That is why I suggest you get a handle on your eating first. Then make small workout goals for yourself! That can be making it to the gym twice a week, or taking a yoga class on Saturday mornings. Or literally just walking your dog more often or for longer than usual! (Maybe just not in Chicago because it’s damn cold here haha).

PLUS- you are about to be filled with Tiger Blood!!! “Tiger blood” is the Whole30 terminology for how freaking amazing you start to feel. Like you can conquer the world!! For me, tiger blood means I have more energy than I know what to do with. I can tell a difference in my mental clarity at work and even my emotional stability in life. I feel happier and I even am more motivated to do awful things like clean my house haha.

THE SWEATSHIRT

Tiger blood time helps motivate me to work out, and so does having cute a athleisure & gym outfit on! Haha Because let’s be honest H&H is a style blog first and foremost haha so you should have expected this from me. This sweatshirt is from Nordstrom Rack and is under $30 (I linked everything at the end so you can shop my entire outfit). I’m 30 years old and it’s finally time for me to purge my closet of Victoria’s Secret Pink sweat suits. Haha So when my Mom got me this sweatshirt for Christmas I fell in love with it! (Great work Momma! Thanks again haha).

I love the shoulder detail of this sweatshirt because it adds a little bit of a feminine detail to an otherwise boring crew neck sweatshirt! I love that I can wear a tank at the gym and then put this over it afterwards and instantly I have an athleisure & gym outfit in one!

THE LEGGINGS

Okay now we have to talk about these leggings. If you haven’t heard of Gymshark and you are a workout kinda gal or guy- you NEED to check them out. Ladies, their leggings are SO soft, I love that they are high-waist AND they have tons of different styles. I should also mention that they are like half or three quarters the price of Lululemon so your bank account will appreciate it! These are my favorites because I love the mesh detailing. I get SO many compliments when I wear these at the gym; girls are always asking where I got them from.

Aside from these being cute and different, my favorite part is something I think more people overlook. THEY HAVE POCKETS. Not huge ones, not baggy weird pockets, just big enough for your phone- pockets. I love that. I use wireless headphones so I always have my phone on me and it’s really hard/annoying to lift weights and just always have to worry about where your phone is.

THE SHOES

These grey New Balance shoes are so comfortable. They are fitted like a sock or glove but (in my opinion) have just a tiny bit more soul support than the Nike Flyknits (which I also own and love). One of my best friends Gina has them in navy blue and they are gorgeous in that color too! NB always makes a great selection of colors and they are so dang good about fitting you and accommodating returns to make sure you find the PERFECT shoe for you.

THE VEST

I threw a white puffer vest over this outfit because it makes an easy 3rd piece. I don’t always want to take my coat to the gym and it fits better in my locker. Besides, who really wants to put a heavy winter coat over their sweaty body post lifting session?! This one is like 3 years old from Old Navy, but I linked similar ones below!

Kyle and I had too much fun shooting this athleisure & gym outfit in 12-degree weather haha. That is how these next photos came about. It only took us about a dozen tries to get the timing right and I’m sure the people watching us thought we were crazy. (To be fair most of the times when Maria and I are shooting people watch us thinking we are crazy. Or they ask what magazine we are shooting for hahaha). The second one though is the best photo we took- by far. We had been counting “one, two, three, GO” so that we could get the timing right of the photo. So towards the end I shocked him with that surprise face/pose and we couldn’t stop laughing. Then when we saw that he had actually captured it perfectly, I knew it HAD to be included in here. Hehe

Well I hope this gave you a little athleisure & gym outfit inspiration! Furthermore, I hope it got you thinking about getting active again. Not even to lose weight, but to strengthen your body, get those good endorphins going and feel GREAT during your last two weeks of Whole30!

Even if I don’t workout regularly haha! I’m in love with those leggings! I’m afraid of mesh sides for some reason. But they look so good one you!

Your outfit is so cute! When I first started working out, I never really paid attention on what I’m wearing. Over the years, I realized a good workout attire not only exercise more comfortable, it also encourages me to actually go out and do it.
